Up for sale is this beautiful vintage stainless steel Movado "Monopusher" Chronograph. The center seconds hand functions as a chronograph, while the subsidiary seconds at 6 o'clock is the running seconds hand. This is a super cool and hard to find configuration. The dial, case, lume, and hands are all original.
The case is a real star, a stainless steel Francois Borgel (FB) case that is unpolished and maintains very sharp edges. The dial has some damage, but it's so rare to find these watches, nevertheless one with the original dial, so it's exciting to see this watch as it would've been in the 1950s when it was born. The watch has a dress-sport vibe, a chic look but with bold Arabic numerals and other queues you might expect in sportier chronographs. The watch was found from the estate of the original owner in Ohio, and was supposedly a gift to him for his 21st birthday, hence the engraving on the caseback. I have some additional documentation and the original jewelry store box which will also be sent with the watch (not necessarily proof of anything, but fun provenance to have and keep the story going).Service history is unknown; the watch runs and keeps time. The chronograph runs when it wants to, it takes a hard press of the pusher to get it going and get it stopped and reset. HOWEVER, there are some aesthetic things that would need to be fixed for the watch to be fully functional. The hands tend to stick together when trying to pass above/below each other.
