You've just walked into the doll store and the clerk has brought you a new Ginny in her box from the stock room. You open it up today as if it were then. This is what is listed here. Vintage Mint in her original and correct box, Undressed Walker Ginny, Store Stock, Must See. This is one of those rare old store stock 1954 Vogue undressed Ginny dolls that has NEVER been out-of-the-box.
It has the original paperwork, hair has not a strand out of place plus she has her round paper arm tag, unbent cardboard face protector, original elastic & bows, underwear, Ginny shoes and socks, never undressed. The box itself is in almost mint condition.
It is very white and pink and only the bottom corners of lid show wear. One corner has been reinforced with tape. This is probably one of the first of the 1954 "lift me out here" boxes with insert that has never been removed nor has it been bent which is extremely hard to find.
The neck brace is still straight. Her label is in mint condition saying # 9, undressed walking doll in a braid with A for auburn hair.
Her face is untouched and minty, no fading whatsoever no rubbing. Her eyes still flutter and her walking mechanism is perfect.
One arm is a little loose but of course the original rubber band inside is now almost 72 years old and she has not been re-strung. I can do that if u request it.. She has been kept in a temperature controlled and clean atmosphere all these years. The other arm is tight. Her head moves as her legs move.Change- she comes in her classic Ginny satin panties and new in 1954, as now she's a walker, Vogue changed the shoes to side knob and only that year, had flat bottoms with no heel and Ginny marked identity. You wouldn't find one better than this in 1954. On one side of the box it looks like something was taped and pulled off could have been the price back then.. Ginny is ready to be dressed or you can collect her just like this perfectly which is what I would do since she has been this way for 76 years. And the reason why the two corners of the bottom of the lid are a little bit worn is because this doll was stored standing up which is the way she should have been stored.
It's why her balancing in her head for her eyes still works. Most dolls have lost their ability to have eyes flutter and open and close easily because they were stored horizontal which ruined the balancing mechanism inside. She has defined tosca colored painted lashes and unfaded brows that are defined and show better in person as does her glowing Matt finish and cheek color. This is her factory original coloring. Her untouched auburn hair is the continued " comb, curl and set".The walking mechanism is what was new in 1954. Please ask any and all questions. I've been collecting for 65 years and have a tremendous collection of dolls and accessories all vintage vogue.
